The Evolution Of The Wax Overshirt

The men’s overshirt has become synonymous with the Wax identity. We began with the Whiting, our signature piece, and over the years have taken it a step further season after season. We’ve played with pattern, experimented with fit and cut, and come out the other side with quite the collection. It’s not a shirt and it’s not a jacket, but it’s always Wax.

Each Whiting overshirt fabric has been carefully made sustainably by a family-run French mill using recycled cotton. It’s just one thing that makes them unique, so to create our new Clissold and Lytton styles we’ve kept it going. Taking a fresh look at the weave, the shape and the fastenings. Maintaining the renowned overshirt DNA that makes us who we are.

The Clissold

A shorter version of the Whiting with a slightly wider, more boxy fit, the Clissold is a new approach to our overshirt collection. The fabric is the loose-weave, heavyweight material made at the Deveaux mill, carrying smaller checks for a striking effect.

The Lytton

We first launched the Lytton in an unlined nylon fabric in summer 2026. It was a new take on our previous overshirts, featuring details like a double-ended zip. This season, we’ve moved closer to the Whiting to create another perfect layer to sit under heavier coats and over versatile tees. The latest editions see a tighter weave, with a pixel check and a small geometric design to choose from.
